The word yoga means union, union between mind and body, as well as between oneself and the cosmos. Yoga and Ayurveda are sister sciences and originate in the ancient Vedas of India, over 5,000 years ago. Traditionally, yoga is more than just physical postures; it is a complete system of spiritual awakening and liberation, including breath awareness and meditation, in addition to other disciplines. Yoga is one of the main foundations for health and wellness at every level of mind, body, and spirit. Yoga offers profound stress reduction through cultivating deep, lasting relaxation and peace of mind. Regular yoga practice is one of the best forms of preventative medicine and extensive research on yoga therapy is being conducted in India, America, and around the globe. Yoga has many health benefits, and is specifically recommended for stress reduction, emotional balance, anxiety, depression, insomnia, headaches, chronic fatigue, fibromyalgia, MS, PMS, menstrual cramps, and other related structural pain conditions.
